
i love words. i’ve probably written them all at this point.
i’m kidding, it’s a life goal though.
so far, i’ve had the fortune to cover stories through a range of settings and with a broad set of tools. from written articles to photo stories, to podcasts in spanish and english.
my undergraduate experiences at cal poly humboldt afforded me the opportunity to write for the student publication El Leñador, one of the only bilingual news sources in humboldt, ca.
i currently reside in southern california and look forward to contributing to local news through Riverside City College, Viewpoints.

A frequent waft of carne asada, the lingering smell of roasting sweet corn and the rhythmic rumble of the tuba accompanied the 215 anniversary of Mexico’s independence celebration, El Grito, at the Moreno Valley Amphitheater on the night of Sept. 15.
El Leñador: Justice for Josiah: Four years later, the fight continues
Josiah Lawson was a Humboldt State University sophomore when he was fatally stabbed on April 15, 2017. His mother, Charmaine Lawson, continues to visit Arcata, Ca on the anniversary of his death seeking justice.

El Leñador: Love over hate: solidarity with the Asian community
The Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity (HAPI) and the Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship organized a walking meditation vigil on Sunday, March 21 for the eight people murdered in Atlanta on March 16. Six of the eight people murdered were of Asian descent.

El Leñador: Brenda Perez: an unstoppable voice for the Latinx community
Spanish radio show “Radio Centro’’ has a new home at KZZH-FM in Eureka. The show airs on 96.7 and is hosted by Brenda Pérez, who was a former co-host to KHSU’s “Charlando con la Raza.” Perez’s work with the immigrant community in Humboldt County goes beyond the airways.
